Learn More About Talking Call Waiting
If you have Complete Connections, Call Manager, or Caller ID and Call Waiting:
NOTE: You likely have Caller ID on Call Waiting if you subscribe to either of our bundled offerings
(Complete Connections or Call Manager) or if you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting
services. Caller ID on Call Waiting is a free service that enables your Caller ID to work with
your Call Waiting service so that you receive the name and number of the individual calling --
even if your phone is in use. Please note, your Caller ID on Call Waiting service requires the
use of a Caller ID display unit which is compatible with Call Waiting.
If you subscribe to Talking Call Waiting along with a service called Caller ID on Call Waiting,
there will be a difference in the way that your Talking Call Waiting works. Talking Call Waiting
was designed to detect a Call Waiting capable Caller ID display unit. If you are talking on a phone
which has a Caller ID display unit attached, then you will see the Caller ID information of the
incoming caller on your display box, instead of hearing the name announced by your Talking Call
Waiting service. For example - You have both Caller ID and Call Waiting on your line, and have
Caller ID display units in use with two of the three phones in your house. If you subscribe to
Talking Call Waiting, you will hear the name of the incoming caller only on that phone which has
no Caller ID display unit in use. If you are using a phone which has a Caller ID display unit on
it, you will see the name of the incoming caller.
If you have Reveal:
If you subscribe to Reveal service, Caller ID, Call Waiting, and Talking Call Waiting, there will
be a difference in the way that your Reveal Service works. If you are talking on a phone which
does not have a Call Waiting capable Caller ID display unit attached, your Talking Call Waiting
will audibly announce the name of the caller. However, if your Reveal service intercepted an
unidentified caller and required the caller to enter their telephone number, Talking Call
Waiting is not able to identify the digits entered by the caller. Instead, you will hear
the phrase: "Private Number" instead of the name associated with the number the caller
entered. If you are using a phone with a Call Waiting capable Caller ID display unit attached,
you will see the number entered by the incoming caller as normal with your Reveal service.
